Criteria B - Design

Interior Designing, Photography, Psychology

I want to be an interior designer or work in the Arts and Design section. Photography is also one of my future career choices. If interior designing doesn’t work out, I’ll be a photographer. Psychology also interests me. Both interior designing and photography need artistic skills. Psychology is just something I have been interested in, but haven’t thought about much.

I want to go to a college somewhere interesting. I have never lived in Germany or the USA. I have grown up in different countries. I’m a third-culture kid, so I need to go to a college with other people like me. People who have grown up in different countries. It would be a more fun experience for me. I don’t know what country I want to go to for college, but the college needs to be international.

Criteria A - Investigation

Everything you do affects your future. The grades I get in school will affect what college I get into. My grades also show what I enjoy or am good at. I think based on my grades I will decide what I want to study and what I’ll do with my life. I think school is a good place to find out what you enjoy doing and what you want to do. You still get to learn a lot of different things. Then when it’s time to go to college you may have an idea of what you want to study. Choosing a career is a big decision. I definitely do not want be stuck in a career that I do not enjoy.
I haven’t done any volunteer work this year. If you’re interested in social work or think you might be volunteering is a good place to start. You can learn about yourself and who you want to help.
I would want to continue doing what I like to do for fun, but get paid for it. I think leisure experiences show what kind of person you are. What you like to do and what you don’t like to do. I enjoy reading, taking pictures, and sports. The experiences you have while having fun can help you decide what you want to do.
School activities: Girls Soccer team
Volleyball team
School Play (onstage)
Orchestra
After School Activities
Based on the career tests we took, I would be a good business person, or computer programmer. None of the careers suggested to me were anything I would enjoy doing. I want to an interior designer or photographer. I have also thought of becoming a psychologist. Recently I have thought of being a librarian. I know it sounds really boring but I do enjoy reading and I love libraries. Psychology has always interested me. I want to be able to help somebody by talking to them. I have always thought that talking solves problems. I like being creative. I like art. Photography really interests me. I think I would enjoy doing that as a career.
I enjoy sports, but I am not good enough to play a sport professionally. It has never interested me in that way either. Most of the things that I do are just for fun. I have never wanted to do them as a career. I think that I get bored or fed up with things easily. I need to find a career that will keep me interested and entertained. I do not like challenging things because I’m too lazy. I can’t be bothered to put effort into something too challenging. I want to do something that requires art because I enjoy it.

The traits listed for the careers applied to me, but I do not like any of the careers listed. I am not interested in Business or into Law. I am more artistic and I want to be a photographer or interior designer. I find the careers listed quite boring.

Quiet, serious, earn success by thoroughness and dependability. Practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible. Decide logically what should be done and work toward it steadily, regardless of distractions. Take pleasure in making everything orderly and organized – their work, their home, their life. Value traditions and loyalty.

What I like to do...

I enjoy reading fiction. I like fiction written in a way that could be true. Stories that are not true, but have a sense of reality really get me hooked. I play the flute, and even though I do not enjoy practicing, I want to continue playing the flute. I also enjoy art, though I never feel like I have good ideas. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a kid. I really like decorating, organizing and re-modeling rooms and houses. It’s a lot fun to change something and make it better. I enjoy sports in general. I like to swim, play soccer, play volleyball and badminton isn’t so bad. I don’t like basketball. Running around and playing games is fun. In school I enjoy English, Art, P.E. and Chinese. Even though Chinese is difficult I enjoy learning languages. I like being able to speak different languages. I do not enjoy math, but science is okay. I have also learned that taking part in the school play can be a fun and entertaining experience. Traveling can be stressful, but once I get to a new place it's a lot of fun learning about it.

In the past four years I have enjoyed...

1. Soccer
2. Swimming
3. Flute
4. Art
5. Reading
6. Volleyball
7. School - Mostly English, Art,
8. Traveling
9. Interior Designing
10. Languages

Most of the activities I listed above are connected to art or sports. I enjoy just zoning out and drawing something or playing something. It's very calming to me. I can think about things or I can completely focus on the picture I was drawing or the song I was playing. I enjoy sports activities because it's fun! If I'm not good at a sport, like basketball, it's not fun. I like team sports because you're with a whole bunch of people, running around and having fun. Swimming is just awesome... I can't explain why I like it.
The activities don't challenge me, I think that's what I like about them. There just things that keep me entertained. If they do get challenging I don't enjoy them as much. Except with sports. In tournaments I like having a team with me. It's more fun that way.
I think that some of the things I like to do, I could be better at doing. I have the ability to do things, but I think I should put more effort and commitment into the activities I do. I need to discipline myself to try my hardest when I do the activities. Persistence. I need to be persistent to develop in my activities.

Evalutaion: Shiny Shakespeare Show

This project was a major fail. It took everyone a long time to get on track and organized. We spent forever waiting for our scripts to be returned. Even once we had everything we weren’t ready to start filming. It was just a whole lot of confusion and nothing got done. At first, the class seemed excited and really into it, but it just went downhill from that. We spent a lot of time just sitting around, wasting time basically. English B students didn’t have anything to do, and English A students were not getting much done either. This project was not successful. We didn’t film, edit and it was completely unorganized. We didn’t even finish the project. I’m only writing an Evaluation because something needs to be done to wrap up this project.
I was supposed to be following the design cycle for this unit, but like the project in general, it didn’t really work out. I did the Investigation. I researched quite a bit about filming, editing, props and stuff like that. I had all my sources too. The scripts were being graded so the whole class waited for them to be returned. This was a waste of time. Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Thompson both had different ideas of how this unit would work out, so the class was just confused.
Criteria B, Design, seems to have been lost. I didn’t do anything for Criteria B because I needed my script. So I waited, and then went to ACAMIS. I think for Criteria B, the class did it together. Most people voted on the scripts. The script with the most votes was Tsolmon’s, so we were going to film hers. There was a lot of mind changing and no one seemed to be making any real decisions that could keep us going.
Usually I always have to do Criteria C, Plan, but this time I didn’t. I do not know if the class did while I was in ACAMIS, but I don’t think so. This may have been why this project ended up so bad. There was no planning put into it. One good thing about this project is that it has shown me that planning is important.
Criteria D is Create. We spent one class trying to get something done. We filmed, but no one knew their lines and it was just pointless. That class was probably where everyone got sick of this unit. We looked at the videos that Haram had filmed and they were no good. So we didn’t create anything. I don’t think we gave up. We recognized a lost cause when we saw it. We did try to make it work, but probably not hard enough. There was just a whole lot of confusion and ideas were changing and we couldn’t stick with anything. So now I am evaluating this project….
Improvements for this unit could take a long time. First I think that every single person taking part should have all been on the same track and known what we were getting in to. Second, we needed our script from the beginning! I really think that would have helped. Then it would have been easier to get started and get into the flow of this project. We should have been more serious about it. I think if we had had costumes and real settings and props we would have been more enthusiastic about it. I didn’t really enjoy what we did in this project, though I think it could have been good. Mrs. Wilson did say though that it hasn’t been successful with any grade, so maybe this unit is ju

April 26th...

So far the class has chosen a final script that will be turned into a video. Tsolmon's script had the most votes. The script includes Hero, Beatrice, Claudio, Benedick, Don Pedro, Ursula, Margaret and Borachio.

One group of students is working on editing, costumes, setting and props. The other group is the actors and they are working on memorizing the script and everything else actors do.

It's all messed up at the moment. We are lacking in the enthusiasm in creating the final product. First we were going to combine two scripts, but that would have been a lot of work. So then, the class decided to just take Tsolmon's script, since her's had the most votes. Now we're trying to get everything together.

Next Wednesday we want to start filming. Some of it will be practice. I have been given then role of the host. Either lines have to be memorized or we'll have cards and we can do different parts of the script at different times.

So far...

Much Ado about Nothing: Entertainment Special

The host enters. Audience applauds and cheers.

Host: How ya’ll doing tonight?! Audience screams replies such as ‘Great!’ or simply continues cheering. Good, good, because we’ve got a great show coming this evening! All of you are about to discover the actual facts about the latest Hollywood couple, Benetrice! Crowd goes wild cheering and clapping. Let us welcome the five Cupids! Hero, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro!

Hero, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro run or walk in smiling as their name is called. They all take a seat.

Host: Hi, how are you? Smiling, real casually.

Don Pedro: Great. Thanks so much for inviting us!

Leonato: I can not wait to get started.

Host: Great. Let me tell you, everyone is so excited to have you here. Speaking towards the audience. Am I right? Audience says ‘Yes!’.

Claudio: Laughing and smiling. We’re really excited to be here too.

Host: Audience quiets down. So you all know about the newest couple, Benedick and Beatrice or ‘Benetrice’ as they’re called these days. There have been rumors that you five have played an important role in getting the two of them together.

Don Pedro: Yea, we all thought they would be good for one another.

Host: Well, so far it seems you did well in matching them up. It’s quite a remarkably feat, I must say, getting Benedick and Beatrice together.

Hero: Yes it was. It was practically impossible to find them not bickering at each other. They’re both very witty.

Host, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro are all chuckling.

Host: Do you all agree with this? Nodding towards Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro.

Ursula: Yes, it’s true. Even now they still bicker at each other.

Host: So you five hooked Benedick and Beatrice up? How did you get them together?

Don Pedro: Laughing. Now that’s a funny story. We totally set Benedick up. He had been in the garden, when we walked by. He seemed to have spotted us and hid himself, but not before we saw where he was hiding.

Claudio: So then we started speaking VERY loudly of how Beatrice loved Benedick so much, but she could never tell him, for if she did, she would die.

Leonato: Chuckling. We sure baited the hook well, and the fish most definitely did bite.

Everyone is laughing or chuckling. The atmosphere is excited, happy and comfortable.

Host: Lucky for you (indicating the audience), we caught this fishing trip on camera.

Video clip is shown on screen.

* * *

Don Pedro, Claudio, and Leonato are walking in the garden. You can see Benedick hiding behind a tree.

Don Pedro: Come Leonato. Were you the one who told me that BEATRICE was in love with SINGOR BENEDICK? Speaking towards the tree behind which Benedick is hiding.

Claudio: I did not know she would love anyone.

Leonato: Neither did I. Though she pretends to hate him, she loves more than you would think possible.

Don Pedro: It would be good if Benedick new this.

Claudio: What good would that bring? He would only make more fun of her.

Don Pedro: She is a sweet lady. She is virtuous and wise.

Leonato: Except that she loves Benedick.

Claudio: Hero says Beatrice will die if he loves her, if he knows she loves him, or if he asks her out.

Benedick: To himself. What?! That’s not possible!

Leonato: Well should we go tell Benedick of her love?

Claudio: We can never tell him.

Don Pedro: To Claudio and Leonato. If he doesn’t love her now, I don’t know how to get them together. Now we have to tell Hero to do the same to Beatrice.

* * *

Everyone is applauding and laughing.

Host: So that’s how it happened. Now, Hero and Ursula, you had the job of tricking Beatrice. How did that go?

Hero: It was fun. I just got Margaret to run off and tell Beatrice we were talking about her in the garden. Beatrice came right along, of course.

Ursula: It was really quite entertaining.

Host: Well, let’s show our audience the famous video clip of the witty Beatrice falling into an obvious trap.

* * *

Hero and Ursula are walking in the orchard, their arms linked. You can see Beatrice hiding behind a tree or clump of flowers.

Hero: She is too hateful. Signor Benedick calls her ‘Lady Disdain’, even though he LOVES her.

Ursula: But are you sure that Benedick loves Lady Beatrice so completely?

Hero: That’s what my Claudio and Don Pedro said.

Ursula: Will you tell Beatrice of Benedick’s love?

Hero: No. She would make fun of him.

Ursula: The Lady Disdain…she turns every man inside out. Never sees their good sides.

Beatrice: To herself. Indignant. That’s not true.

Hero: Yea, and Signor Benedick is really on of the best men.

Ursula: Benedick must fight against the passion he has for Beatrice. She may never find out that he LOVES her so entirely.

* * *

Everyone is laughing and applauding.

Host: Well now, that was quite amusing. Benedick and Beatrice don’t seem so witty now. Let’s welcome in the two love birds, shall we? Audience applaud .Beatrice and Benedick walk in smiling.

Host: Thanks for joining us this evening. So tell us, how did you two come together

Benedick: I’ve always loved Beatrice.

Hero, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro are trying to hold back laughter.

Beatrice: It’s true. I love him. He would do anything for me. He almost killed Claudio on my wish.

Benedick and Claudio both nod, remembering when Benedick had threatened to kill Claudio.

Host: Really? So you both just always loved each other? I’ve been told that you bicker a lot. Is this true?

Hero, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro are keeping suspiciously quiet. They are trying their hardest not to burst out laughing.

Beatrice: Well yes, we do. Adds hurriedly. But every couple goes through some arguments.

Benedick: It’s because we’re both so witty and wise.

Host: Hmm… yes. Well, we have something to show you. Shows parts of the two clips.

* * *

Don Pedro, Claudio, and Leonato are walking in the garden. You can see Benedick hiding behind a tree.

Don Pedro: Come Leonato. Were you the one who told me that BEATRICE was in love with SINGOR BENEDICK?

Claudio: I did not know she would love anyone.

Leonato: Neither did I. Though she pretends to hate him, she loves more than you would think possible.

* * *

Hero and Ursula are walking in the orchard, their arms linked. You can see Beatrice hiding behind a tree or clump of flowers.

Ursula: But are you sure that Benedick LOVES Lady Beatrice so completely?

Hero: That’s what, Claudio and Don Pedro said.

* * *

Everyone is laughing their heads off except Benedick and Beatrice. They are sitting grinning, but in a shocked, embarrassed way.

Benedick: Pause. Oh my god, I never new about this…
Hero, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro are still giggling.

Don Pedro: Laughing. Teasing in a friendly way. Yea, the ‘witty’ couple fell for our trick.

Host: So tell me, how are you feeling?

Benedick: Grinning sheepishly. Em… Embarrassed, mostly. I mean, it doesn’t change anything between us. Indicating Beatrice.

Beatrice: No. It only changes my feelings towards those five. Chuckling, nods towards Hero, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro.

Leonato: To the audience. They’ll forgive us by tomorrow.

Host: Not so sure you can believe your friends any more? Chuckling.

Beatrice: Laughing. For some reason, no I don’t think I can completely believe them. Casually. But I do believe that Benedick asked me to marry him.

A surprised silence and then the crowd start whistling, cheering and applauding. Even Hero, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato and Don Pedro are surprised but they clap too.

Host: Stands up and comes to center stage. Let’s end this on a happy note. Thanks for coming! He returns to Hero, Ursula, Claudio, Leonato, Don Pedro, Beatrice and Benedick as camera zooms out.

April 19th...

So far the Modern Shakespeare unit has been a bit difficult to complete. Since we have no received any scripts back, I'm still confused about what I'm supposed to be doing. As a class we have split the type of scripts into groups. We have a gossip group, a news group, an group that's responsible for the breaks and a talk show group. I am in the talk show group with Uudee, Tsolmon and Yea Jun. In our group, we haven't done much. For one of the scripts a table will be needed. It'll be similar to a late night show. That's as far as we've got. I don't want to combine scripts.
I think better quality videos will be produced if the class is split into 3 groups. Each group then has a script that they have to turn into a video. This brings us back to choosing which scripts should be created. Some people may not want their scripts to be used. That's fine. The class should read the scripts and with Mrs. Wilson's and Mr. Thompson's feedback we can decide which scripts we want to turn into videos.
