Future career goal: Interior Designer

Qualifications: IB Diploma, good SAT scores, good GPA, Bi-lingual, High-School Diploma

If a college doesn’t require an IB Diploma, I probably wouldn’t go to a college. I would want to go to a college that requires you to have an IB Diploma, SAT scores, GPA and to be bi-lingual. I want a college to have these qualifications because it is more likely to me a good college and I’ll enjoy.

Educational background:
International School of Latvia (Grades Pre-School-7)
& International School of Ulaanbaatar (Grades 8-12)

I have lived in Latvia and Mongolia. In both countries I have studied in IB schools. Throughout my education I have received good grades.

Extra-curricular activities: ISU Girls Soccer Team (2 years), ISU Girls Volleyball Team (1 year), ISU Orchestra (1 year), ASAs – Photography Club
ISL Girls Soccer Team (1 year), ISL Swim Team (1 year)
Outside of school – Study the flute for 4 years

I have been part of the soccer team and volleyball team in the International School of Ulaanbaatar. In Latvia I was also part of the girl’s soccer team for one year. I enjoy all of the extra-curricular activities, which is why I participate in them. I have been to two CEESA events and three ACAMIS events.

Volunteer: Trash pick-ups, orphanage visits, performed at church for elders.

I have not done much volunteer work though I have had plenty of opportunities. I have completed all the required C&S hours for each year. It is one of my personal goals to do more volunteer work.

What makes me special: I am a third culture kid. I have travelled a lot and experienced quite a bit. I can speak English and German fluently and a bit of French and Chinese. I've lived in Europe (Latvia) and Asia (Mongolia).I was born in India and have never lived in the USA, where my mother is from, or Germany, where my dad is from. Criteria B - Design

Interior Designing, Photography, Psychology

I want to be an interior designer or work in the Arts and Design section. Photography is also one of my future career choices. If interior designing doesn’t work out, I’ll be a photographer. Psychology also interests me. Both interior designing and photography need artistic skills. Psychology is just something I have been interested in, but haven’t thought about much.

I want to go to a college somewhere interesting. I have never lived in Germany or the USA. I have grown up in different countries. I’m a third-culture kid, so I need to go to a college with other people like me. People who have grown up in different countries. It would be a more fun experience for me. I don’t know what country I want to go to for college, but the college needs to be international.

Criteria A - Investigation

Everything you do affects your future. The grades I get in school will affect what college I get into. My grades also show what I enjoy or am good at. I think based on my grades I will decide what I want to study and what I’ll do with my life. I think school is a good place to find out what you enjoy doing and what you want to do. You still get to learn a lot of different things. Then when it’s time to go to college you may have an idea of what you want to study. Choosing a career is a big decision. I definitely do not want be stuck in a career that I do not enjoy.
I haven’t done any volunteer work this year. If you’re interested in social work or think you might be volunteering is a good place to start. You can learn about yourself and who you want to help.
I would want to continue doing what I like to do for fun, but get paid for it. I think leisure experiences show what kind of person you are. What you like to do and what you don’t like to do. I enjoy reading, taking pictures, and sports. The experiences you have while having fun can help you decide what you want to do.
School activities: Girls Soccer team
Volleyball team
School Play (onstage)
Orchestra
After School Activities
Based on the career tests we took, I would be a good business person, or computer programmer. None of the careers suggested to me were anything I would enjoy doing. I want to an interior designer or photographer. I have also thought of becoming a psychologist. Recently I have thought of being a librarian. I know it sounds really boring but I do enjoy reading and I love libraries. Psychology has always interested me. I want to be able to help somebody by talking to them. I have always thought that talking solves problems. I like being creative. I like art. Photography really interests me. I think I would enjoy doing that as a career.
I enjoy sports, but I am not good enough to play a sport professionally. It has never interested me in that way either. Most of the things that I do are just for fun. I have never wanted to do them as a career. I think that I get bored or fed up with things easily. I need to find a career that will keep me interested and entertained. I do not like challenging things because I’m too lazy. I can’t be bothered to put effort into something too challenging. I want to do something that requires art because I enjoy it.

Possible Careers

Possible Career Paths for the ISTJ:

* Business Executives, Administrators and Managers
* Accountants and Financial Officers
* Police and Detectives
* Judges
* Lawyers
* Medical Doctors / Dentists
* Computer Programmers, Systems Analysts, and Computer Specialists
* Military Leaders

The traits listed for the careers applied to me, but I do not like any of the careers listed. I am not interested in Business or into Law. I am more artistic and I want to be a photographer or interior designer. I find the careers listed quite boring.

ISTJ
Quiet, serious, earn success by thoroughness and dependability. Practical, matter-of-fact, realistic, and responsible. Decide logically what should be done and work toward it steadily, regardless of distractions. Take pleasure in making everything orderly and organized – their work, their home, their life. Value traditions and loyalty.

What I like to do...

I enjoy reading fiction. I like fiction written in a way that could be true. Stories that are not true, but have a sense of reality really get me hooked. I play the flute, and even though I do not enjoy practicing, I want to continue playing the flute. I also enjoy art, though I never feel like I have good ideas. I’ve been drawing and painting since I was a kid. I really like decorating, organizing and re-modeling rooms and houses. It’s a lot fun to change something and make it better. I enjoy sports in general. I like to swim, play soccer, play volleyball and badminton isn’t so bad. I don’t like basketball. Running around and playing games is fun. In school I enjoy English, Art, P.E. and Chinese. Even though Chinese is difficult I enjoy learning languages. I like being able to speak different languages. I do not enjoy math, but science is okay. I have also learned that taking part in the school play can be a fun and entertaining experience. Traveling can be stressful, but once I get to a new place it's a lot of fun learning about it.

In the past four years I have enjoyed...

1. Soccer
2. Swimming
3. Flute
4. Art
5. Reading
6. Volleyball
7. School - Mostly English, Art,
8. Traveling
9. Interior Designing
10. Languages

Most of the activities I listed above are connected to art or sports. I enjoy just zoning out and drawing something or playing something. It's very calming to me. I can think about things or I can completely focus on the picture I was drawing or the song I was playing. I enjoy sports activities because it's fun! If I'm not good at a sport, like basketball, it's not fun. I like team sports because you're with a whole bunch of people, running around and having fun. Swimming is just awesome... I can't explain why I like it.
The activities don't challenge me, I think that's what I like about them. There just things that keep me entertained. If they do get challenging I don't enjoy them as much. Except with sports. In tournaments I like having a team with me. It's more fun that way.
I think that some of the things I like to do, I could be better at doing. I have the ability to do things, but I think I should put more effort and commitment into the activities I do. I need to discipline myself to try my hardest when I do the activities. Persistence. I need to be persistent to develop in my activities.

Evalutaion: Shiny Shakespeare Show

This project was a major fail. It took everyone a long time to get on track and organized. We spent forever waiting for our scripts to be returned. Even once we had everything we weren’t ready to start filming. It was just a whole lot of confusion and nothing got done. At first, the class seemed excited and really into it, but it just went downhill from that. We spent a lot of time just sitting around, wasting time basically. English B students didn’t have anything to do, and English A students were not getting much done either. This project was not successful. We didn’t film, edit and it was completely unorganized. We didn’t even finish the project. I’m only writing an Evaluation because something needs to be done to wrap up this project.
I was supposed to be following the design cycle for this unit, but like the project in general, it didn’t really work out. I did the Investigation. I researched quite a bit about filming, editing, props and stuff like that. I had all my sources too. The scripts were being graded so the whole class waited for them to be returned. This was a waste of time. Mrs. Wilson and Mr. Thompson both had different ideas of how this unit would work out, so the class was just confused.
Criteria B, Design, seems to have been lost. I didn’t do anything for Criteria B because I needed my script. So I waited, and then went to ACAMIS. I think for Criteria B, the class did it together. Most people voted on the scripts. The script with the most votes was Tsolmon’s, so we were going to film hers. There was a lot of mind changing and no one seemed to be making any real decisions that could keep us going.
Usually I always have to do Criteria C, Plan, but this time I didn’t. I do not know if the class did while I was in ACAMIS, but I don’t think so. This may have been why this project ended up so bad. There was no planning put into it. One good thing about this project is that it has shown me that planning is important.
Criteria D is Create. We spent one class trying to get something done. We filmed, but no one knew their lines and it was just pointless. That class was probably where everyone got sick of this unit. We looked at the videos that Haram had filmed and they were no good. So we didn’t create anything. I don’t think we gave up. We recognized a lost cause when we saw it. We did try to make it work, but probably not hard enough. There was just a whole lot of confusion and ideas were changing and we couldn’t stick with anything. So now I am evaluating this project….
Improvements for this unit could take a long time. First I think that every single person taking part should have all been on the same track and known what we were getting in to. Second, we needed our script from the beginning! I really think that would have helped. Then it would have been easier to get started and get into the flow of this project. We should have been more serious about it. I think if we had had costumes and real settings and props we would have been more enthusiastic about it. I didn’t really enjoy what we did in this project, though I think it could have been good. Mrs. Wilson did say though that it hasn’t been successful with any grade, so maybe this unit is ju
